COFFEE CUP

Transparent Drawing can be done for any object that you see.  A couple of mornings ago, I was wondering what to draw.  Why not draw something that is right before me?  So I drew my coffee cup transparently.

As I drew, I realized that this coffee cup has thick sides.  I became very focused on how the handle attaches to the cup.  The handle has a wonderful thickness as it curves from top to bottom.  I also became aware of the two sets of shadows;  one from the light above and the other from the sun just entering the window.  Yes, you can still show shadows when drawing transparently.  I gained greater appreciation as to how a coffee cup works as I was able to graphically depict the interior volume.

I am going to create a page outlining suggestions for you to do transparent drawings.  In the meantime, feel free to do a transparent drawing of your coffee cup.  If you send me the image, I will post it on this blog.  Good chance that your transparent drawing will be better than mine.
