MULTIVIEW

TRANPSARENT DRAWINGLet’s introduce a new term into Transparent Drawing; multiview.

We have been using this term off and on as it applies to Byzantine imagery.  See for example Byzantine Spacetime.

The term multiview has been applied in these pages to the Cubist and Futurist system of form making.  See Transcend Cubism.

There is in the lexicon the term multivew projection.  This is a boring method by which standardized two dimensional images are assembled on projection planes to create a three dimensional form.  We’re not talking about that.

Yourdictionary.com defines multiview as “That may be viewed or view from two or more aspects.”  But this is such a passive implication.  When we say multiview at Transparent Drawing, we are active, we are in fact makers of multiple simultaneous views.

Multiview helps us to understand a bit more of exactly what we are doing when we are drawing transparently.  Our definition of the term is new and adds to the culture.  We are revealing the unseen.  There cannot be multiview without transparency.  We are demonstrating the closure of complete forms simultaneously.

We are operating in the multiview.
