ONE LINE ONE WASH

TRANSPARENT DRAWINGI think I have achieved enlightenment.

My drawing was done with one wash, and one line.  The pencil went once to the paper and drew the line.  The brush went once to the paper and moved the wash.

At the end of the previous page, I asked the question whether a one wash drawing would look like anything.  I predicted that on my 5×8 piece of paper, that by the time the wash was brought around, it would not have dried sufficiently for there to be any visible overlap.  And that would be true, if I applied the wash at my typically rushed pace.

But, if you move the wash very, very slowly across the paper, then what you put down at the very first will be dry enough to not be lifted by wash as you bring it back to where you started.  The trick is to keep the wet edge of the wash just wet enough so that it does not dry and show a boundary.  This was somewhat difficult for me to do, given limited attention spans and such.  I started at the top left of the overlapped tone and then proceeded to bring the wash around the center and back.

One line.  One wash.

Drawing within the non dualistic.  Drawing within the non material.  Drawing the un caused space.
