TERMS OF SERVICE

MS03-062 TRANSPARENT DRAWING LISTSI read that everyone likes lists online as they are easier to read and then are more likely to be forwarded (hint).  So I offer to you this short list of terms and definitions which summarizes some of what we are about.

-not a rendering
-unbroken relationships
-diagrams of instruction
-spatial arrangement
-unrealistic
-integral beauty
-genuine thinking
-devotion to clarification
-disclosure of structure

Like I said, everyone loves lists, so I didn’t want to complicate the above list with explanations.  So below are elaborations of a few of the terms that may not be immediately clear.

Unrealistic.  How can this be good?  Because we are problem solvers.  We are not artists.  Our goal is to create and communicate a sense of function.  Our drawings are not supposed to be realistic.

Integral Beauty.  In our Transparent Drawings, the beauty is not added.  Yet Transparent Drawings are beautiful.  This beauty comes from forthright problem solving.  The beauty is integral to the statement.  Beauty follows solution.  If you solve, you are beautiful.  Smoke follows beauty?..no that’s wrong.

Genuine Thinking.    As we have seen, we think with images.  Because we draw, our image creation is is the most fundamental thing we can do

Disclosure of Structure.  Our use of the word structure in these pages refers to an ordering and a hierachy of ideas.  It does not refer to what holds up the enclosure or form.

So there you have it.  The first Transparent Drawing list.
