DRAWING TO SAVE THE WORLD

MS13-058 TRANSPARENT DRAWING

We have shown that thinking requires mental images. Images contain thought and visual facts.  Therefore our drawings are hugely important. They are a testament to a logical and rigorous construction.

If we consider that some of our thoughts are facts. And we cannot think without images. Then certainly our drawings are more factual than any literary logical progression.

We certainly have not been taught to give this level of importance to our drawings. Most of us would give the knee jerk answer that the visual arts are for beautification, expression of emotions, etc. I don’t think anyone would apply the term “fact” to our drawings.

Yet we also would agree that the visual arts allow us to strive for perfection, to search for harmony, and to present an accepted ordering.

When we are problem solving, we are indeed searching for order and perfection. When we draw, we are indeed making a cognitive statement. We might go so far as to say that we are making a logical statement. That is to say, each of our Transparent Drawings is a cognitive, logical construct. And since thinking requires images, our thinking images contain far more logical information than does say a series of paragraphs.

So all ye of the graphic orientation. Hold your heads up! Your problem solving exists at a very fundamental and therefore important level. Your images are indeed facts. They are logical constructs. They are statements.

Seems to me that we have not gone very far in the solution of the ills of our society using the literary approach. So let’s try letting our visual people have a go at it. Let’s see if visual facts, since they are more fundamental than language, will get us a bit closer to more fundamental solutions. Maybe we can more efficiently save the world with drawings.
