REPRESENTATION IS DEAD

51-53Why do we even teach representation as the mode with which to draw to solve problems? Why are we even taught to draw representationally?  Why are we culturally ingrained to draw for emotion, rather than for knowledge?  Why are we are taught to draw as we think we see see, and not as we think? Why are we not given drawing exercises, from the very beginning,  that teach us to think spatially and solve problems, as a way to understand the world? Why are we tasked, from the very beginning, to produce, no matter what else you do, a pretty picture?  Why would we not be encouraged, from the very beginning to prioritize knowledge over a pretty picture?  Why are we even asked to draw a nude or or an apple, and draw that object representationally?  Why do we continue to put blinders on the imaginations of our young with representation?   Why do we even want to draw or paint as if we are photographically recording a scene thru a lens?  Who cares about representation!  Representation is dead!  It is a predisposition of our visual acuity and a waste of our visual time! We should be drawing for knowledge, not emotion!  Stop drawing pretty pictures!  Let’s simply remove representation from our primary orientation and replace it with transparency!
