SEXY SKETCHES

STUPID CAT 1
They say that there are two things that intrigue people the most on the internet, sex and stupid cat photos. If you don’t know it by now, there is no sex here. For that you have to go elsewhere. Although you would think that if my whole thing is drawing transparently, there would be a huge potential for sexy content.

Architects are not sexy. Actually, I just tested that statement. I just typed “Sexy Architects” into Google and at the top of the list was an article titled “Architects Are Sexist.” See what I mean?

How many architects do they use for models in fashion spreads? Zero. Whereas Roger Federer is a compelling salesman for Mercedes automobiles, there simply have not been any architects selling automobiles. Unless of course the architect became a used car salesman because they could not find any work. Sort of a joke there.

So given this supreme cultural heuristic, then what we are left with is stupid cat photos. And since I seem to have this propensity to conflate everything to transparent drawing, I thought I would try the stupid cat approach to see what that might yield.

Our office cat, Jay-K, typically takes his first nap at 5 AM on my desk. The above photo was taken this morning. Now I could make the case that the reason he heads directly for my desk when I start to draw is his avid interest in what unbelievable drawing I will make next. Alas, that is not the case. The reason he gets so close to my sketchbook is that it is directly under my drawing lamp. The incubatory effects of the light puts him right to sleep. Which may indeed be many people’s reaction to my blog.

My record page views in a day is 93. Although many times the daily page view is something like 15. That’s probably pretty pathetic. Not that I really care. But who in their right mind will be compelled to click to Transparent Drawing when there are infinitely more interesting and sexy sites filled with cat photos to check in with?

Despite my professed ultra cool page view apathy, deep down I do care about page views. So I thought I would shamelessly include a stupid cat photo, to see if that has any effect.

And if you don’t really care about either sex or cats and therefore only care passionately about Transparent Drawing, I was working on a drawing inspired by the geometry of Picasso’s “Bull” sculpture, as there is going to be a huge 3D Picasso show at MOMA.
